THE HABITAT

Rice grows best only where there is a large supply of water, even during summer.

That is why 55% of national production is mainly focused in the Piedmont region.

The best soil for the cultivation of rice must have a rich, fertile top layer, then a second impermeable one below, made of clay. This type of soil is particular to the area of Vercelli.

Rice growing has always respected the region’s natural habitat. Organic products are used during the growth of the rice plant and the level of water is always kept high. This improves the ecosystem and encourages the typical fauna of the rice fields, such as: frogs, dragonflies, and herons.
